The Chavez-Obama U.N. Plot Against Honduras

The United Nations on Thursday begins a debate over a new U.N. military doctrine called the "Responsibility to Protect," which would authorize the world organization to be used as cover to intervene in the sovereign affairs of a nation state, supposedly to protect the people of a country against their own government. The first target could be anti-communist Honduras.

Swine Flu: Natural Pandemic or Man-Made Pandemonium? by Lila Rajiva

The latest in the barrage of media reports on swine flu is a Bloomberg news report (August 25, 2009) that it might hospitalize 1.8 million patients in the US and over-burden hospital intensive care units.

This comes from a planning scenario released by the President’s Council of Advisers on Science and Technology

Toward the White Republic

Without an organizational presence in the real world and with a “public” largely of computer hobbyists, white nationalists at present have no hope of actually mobilizing the white populace in opposition to the existing anti-white regime. Rather, their immediate goal is to prepare the way for the development of a revolutionary nationalist vanguard to lead the struggle for white liberation. They aspire thus not to recapture the rotting corpse of the US government, but to free themselves from it — in order to be themselves, in their own land, in their own way.

First Principles – The Treasonous Clerk: Art and Beauty against the Politicized Aesthetic, Part I

Even before the elections last November, particularly astute conservatives had lamented that many of the supposed victories for their cause were in truth nothing to celebrate. Most of these persons were paleo- or traditional conservatives, who saw in the Bush administration little that was genuinely conservative and much that testified to the further usurpation of the word "conservative," and of the Republican Party by a neoconservative agenda

SHERMAN FREDERICK: Enough is enough, Harry

You could call Reid’s remark ugly and be right. It certainly was boorish. Asinine? That goes without saying.

But to fully capture the magnitude of Reid’s remark (and to stop him from doing the same thing to others) it must be called what it was — a full-on threat perpetrated by a bully who has forgotten that he was elected to office to protect Nevadans, not sound like he’s shaking them down.

‘Take that thing off your head’

Maybe it’s because her dad served in the U.S. Marines … or because her high school mascot is a fierce-looking eagle … or because she plans to enlist in the Army next summer after graduation to defend her country … whatever the reason, when Heather Lawrence saw a fellow student refuse to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance and recite it with the class, the 16-year-old Junior ROTC member saw a teachable moment and took it.

And for that, she’s been suspended five days.

Don’t be fooled.  The Progressives may backpedal.  They may make noises about dropping the government option.  They may call Obamacare insurance reform.  They may talk about saving money and being more efficient.  But they won’t retreat from their objective of re-making America into a nation of the government, by the government and for the government.

North Star Writers Group – Time for Another Swine Flu Vaccine Debacle?

The first mass U.S. vaccination in 1976 was a total fiasco. Some 40 million took shots against a pandemic that never materialized. At least 25 died as a result of the vaccinations and 500 developed paralyzing Guillain-Barre syndrome. Lawsuits flew everywhere.

On War and Apocalypse | First Things

The trend toward the apocalypse is humanity’s greatest feat. The more probable this achievement becomes, the less we talk about it. I have come to a crucial point: that of a profession of faith, more than a strategic treatise, unless both are mysteriously equivalent, in the essential war that truth wages against violence. I have always been utterly convinced that violence belongs to a form of corrupted sacred, intensified by Christ’s action when he placed himself at the heart of the sacrificial system. Satan is the other name of the escalation to extremes.

VDARE – Senator Specter (Turncoat-PA) Marches On…Or Maybe Not!

Let’s be brutally honest. Because of his advanced age and various cancer scares, Specter could not qualify for any job in America except the U.S. Senate.

No one knows what Specter stands for—not even Specter.

Edgar Rice Burroughs and Masculine Narrative | The Brussels Journal

Contemporary popular culture is as jejune as contemporary politics: strangled by political correctness and by contempt for form and etiquette, it eats away like acid at what remains of courtesy and memory.  But the past of popular culture – in literature and the movies – has much nourishment to offer.  One of the most popular authors of the Twentieth Century, Edgar Rice Burroughs (1875 – 1950), had a keen intuition about the health of the body politic and the positive relation of a vital culture to its founding traditions.

American Thinker: Obama and the Thugs

Early last fall, an old friend of mine and long-time volunteer for Republican women’s associations, called me from her home in Orlando, Florida.  She was quite shaken.  She had just returned from what was intended to be a small, quiet McCain support outing, just like the ones she had been dutifully attending for 30 years.

The blitzkrieg of changes that Obama has implemented — the nationalization of auto companies and banks, the demonization of the bourgeois (auto executives, physicians in private practice, insurance executives), the arm-twisting behind closed doors — are of the kind we’d expect of Hugo Chavez, pal of Obama’s pal, Bill Ayers.

Global Politician – United States that isn’t America

Texas did not turn from Mexican to American because the Anglos are bad, but rather because they became a majority in that territory. For the same reason, once Mexicans become a majority in southwestern United States, and Muslims in Western Europe, it will spell the end of these communities as we know them. Geographically, America and Western Europe will exist. But Western society and culture will die.

Nazis for Me, but Not for Thee by Andrew C. McCarthy

It’s this week’s fashion on the left, and among such fashionably contemplative moderates as Mort Kondracke, to blast Rush Limbaugh for comparing Democrats to the Nazis. It’s no surprise that the Obama hardcores are misrepresenting the sequence and substance of events, but I would have hoped that Kondracke would at least have noted that Rush’s comparison — even if Kondracke thought it unwise — was neither gratuitous nor demagogic.

The Flemish Influence on the American Pilgrims – Part 3

The Flemish ‘swarming’ prepared the crucible of the English body politic for the smooth reception of Flemish ideas of work and worship. Thus the late 15th century Catholic best-seller of Flemish mysticism from Thomas a Kempis called the Imitation of Christ manifested itself in the willingness of Englishmen to eagerly absorb Protestant tracts prepared on Flemish printing presses at Antwerp and brought over by Flemish printers who trafficked for the benefit of both God and Mammon. We saw that Martin Luther’s first and most vocal Protestant advocates in the Low Countries were Augustinians from the monasteries at Ghent and Antwerp and that these Flemish friars brought the Good Word back to Flanders.

The Death of the Middle Class

There’s good news in the stock market, which is very comforting given how tired we’ve all become of the endless parade of bad news. Unfortunately this is no time to be sticking our heads back in the sand thinking all will be back to normal in a few months. This is not just the end of the recession, it’s the end of the brief run of the American middle-class that began just after WWII and finally collapsed from exhaustion last year. Unfortunately this middle class will not recover; the patient died.

Understanding Islam’s Threat to U.S. Vital

John Brennan, the assistant to the president for homeland security and counterterrorism, last week approvingly recalled a key point in the speech Barack Obama delivered in Cairo in June: "America is not and never will be at war with Islam." Unfortunately, that statement ignores the fact that the decision as to whether the United States is at war with anybody is not entirely up to our leadership or people. The real question is: Is ‘Islam’ at war with us?

Who Are The Barbarians?

Among the direct causes of Rome’s demise were constant wars and foreign military interventions, which sapped the strength and the resolve of the Roman population.  Unchecked immigration allowed masses of people to enter the Empire who had no interest in becoming Romans instead intent on maintaining their own culture and language while appropriating Roman property and civilization.  A debased currency brought on runaway inflation and undermined the economic system.  The rule of law was repealed by the expansion of executive power.

Nancy Pelosi has a very florid imagination. In her mind’s eye she is seeing people "carrying swastikas" at Town Hall meetings to protest Obama’s Central Plan for American medicine. Barack Obama told a crowd of supporters in Philadelphia back in 2008, “If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun.” He added, “That’s the Chicago way.”

Last night in St. Louis, Missouri, a local conservative found out firsthand about the “Chicago way.” Kenneth Gladney, a black conservative from the city, was handing out “Don’t Tread On Me” flags after a Russ Carnahan town hall meeting on health care in Mehlville. This didn’t go over well with the Obama supporters and union thugs who attended the meeting. They punched him in the face, kicked him in the head, and stomped on him on the pavement. So much for hope and change.
